All of the motion pictures presented on the Wyoming State Historical Society Web Site are from the Library of Congress, American Memory Collections. Click on a title below to download or view the films and for more information about a motion picture.

Lee Martin, a Genuine Cowboy on a Bucking Bronco, 1894
Lower Falls, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone Park, 1899
Coaches Arriving at Mammoth Hot Springs, 1899
Tourists Going Round Yellowstone Park, 1899
The Great Train Robbery, December 1, 1903
The Little Train Robbery, September 1, 1905

The motion pictures on the WYSHS.org web site require special viewers. Currently, films are presented in three formats, QuickTime, .mpg (Motion Pictures Experts Group or MPEG), and .rm (Real Media). For detailed playback information, see our Additional Playback Information.

To download the films presented here for future viewing, be sure to set your browser to the load, save or retrieve to disk option (depending upon your browser).

Motion pictures longer than four minutes may have been segmented, thereby limiting maximum file size to approximately 40 MB. Please note that a typical 28.8 internet connection achieves a theoretical maximum download rate of approximately 3.5 KB/sec (210 K/min) under ideal conditions. Therefore, a file of 40 MB would take approximately 190 minutes (3 hours 10 minutes) in optimal conditions and more likely much longer (up to 2 to 3 times) depending on Internet traffic load.
