The Wyoming Historical Foundation was formed to gather and administer private funds to be employed in the preservation, development, and recognition of Wyoming's Heritage. Foundation funds are used to cooperate with educational institutions, underwrite promotional materials, finance research in selected areas, stimulate the interest of young people through achievement awards and special educational programs, and to in any way futher the study and preservation of Wyoming's heritage.
The Wyoming Historical Foundation is a separate and distinct organization from the Wyoming State Historical Society. The Foundation exists to acquire financial assets that can be used to assist in the preservation and interpretation of Wyoming history. Its charter ties it closely to the Wyoming State Historical Society and commits it to support the efforts of the Society. The Foundation yearly contributes a sizable monetary donation to the Wyoming History Day program.
