Wyoming State Historical Society Lola Homsher Grant Program
2000 Grant Recipients
The Lola Homsher Grant Program is made possible through the Lola Homsher Endowment Fund.
Five applicants were chosen for the the year 2000 to receive $500 grants each to aid in completion of their work:

Richard Perue (Saratoga, Wyoming) will make prints and catalogue the
Jack Ledbetter negative collection. Prints will be at the Saratoga and
Grand Encampment Museums. The negatives date from 1870 to 1910. The
negatives record the boom period in Saratoga-Encampment area during the
late 1800's.

Brian Hosmer (Laramie, Wyoming) will conduct research on the Wind River
Indian Reservation concerning the New Deal-era work relief programs and
how that has affected the Native Americans in that area.

Carla Loveland (Burlington, Wyoming) will complete a history of pioneer
settlers along the Greybull River. The book will contain a record of the
beginnings of both Otto and Burlington, along with a history of more
than 200 families that settled along the Greybull River.

Holly Skinner (Lander, Wyoming) will research the memoirs of Susan
Bordeaux, the daughter of James Bordeaux, an interpreter for the army at
Fort Laramie.

Tamsen Hert (Laramie, Wyoming) will research the Grand Canyon Hotel that
existed near the present Canyon Village in Yellowstone National Park.
This research will include a history of the structure, as well as the
visitors to the hotel.
