Maurine Carley Memorial Award Maurine Carley, who was a long-time active member of the Wyoming State Historical Society and acted as it's treasurer for twenty years was a recognized historian and writer. She was dedicated to the preservation of the history of Wyoming and shared this dedication in her writing and by serving as a trail guide for many State Historical Society treks. The Maurine Carley Memorial Award is made by the Wyoming State Historical Society to an organization or individual in recognition of an outstanding project in the field of historic preservation. A historic preservation project may span many years and people are encouraged to submit projects that may represent Wyoming's diverse cultural heritage. Possible nominations may include residential, commercial, public, religios, industrial or institutional buildings, historic sites, trails, cemetaries, archaeological sites and other places significant to Wyoming History. Nomination shall be made by a letter and a completed application form from a chapter of the Wyoming State Historical Society or by the Executive Board of the Society to the State Historic Preservation Committee. A letter to the Historic Preservation Committee will suffice with a completed application form. A complete description of the project with photographs should accompany the application form. If the project has been listed or our nominated to the National Register, a copy of the nomination should be included. Deadlines for entries must be postmarked before June 15 of each year. The Historic Preservation Committee of the Wyoming State Historical Society shall make the final determination as to recipients of this award. The project may still be underway or shall have been completed within the last two years. Usually one award per year shall be given. However, if the Committee chooses, it reserves the right to award more than one award because of merit. All others may be eligible to receive special recognition. The award need not be given each year. An inscribed plaque and a monetary amount as determined by the Historic Preservation Committee will be presented at the Annual Meeting.
