Since its inception the Society has sponsored two large events open to members and guests. The events are hosted by local county chapters and highlight specific historic events and places, and which serve to recognize individuals for their efforts in preserving all aspects of Wyoming’s history.

Whoop Up Canyon Petroglyphs

July 25 | Departs from Newcastle, WY

Experience a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness one of North America’s most significant prehistoric sites. This exclusive fundraising trek offers rare access to the Whoop Up Canyon Petroglyphs, where ancient carvings etched into the canyon walls tell stories that predate modern memory. This is more than a tour; it is a profound connection to the earliest inhabitants of the plains. Due to the sensitive nature of the site, this journey is strictly limited to 40 participants.  To have the full experience, moderate level hiking is required for about a 1 mile distance round trip.

  • Cost: $250 per person
  • Includes: Bus transportation and lunch.
  • Note: Limited to 40 people. This is a primary fundraiser for the Wyoming Historical Society and its programs.
  • Registration: Opens March 1.
